Our School Food Service Program

We place a high priority on providing a quality food service program for our students and staff. We believe in promoting childhood nutrition to our student body at the earliest age by encouraging healthy food choices and increasing the availability of food at the school. It's our goal to ensure that the children of New Hope Elementary get nutritious food, year-round.
We plan to participate in the following child nutrition programs:
  • School Breakfast Program (SBP)
  • National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
  • Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP)
  • After-School Snack and Supper
  • Summer Meal Programs
  • Farm to School
Meal Pattern

Meal patterns include appropriate portion sizes of:

  • Fruits

  • Vegetables

  • Grains

  • Meats/ meat alternates (except breakfast)

  • Fluid milk

Charter Schools

Charter schools are not required to provide a food service program. However, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs reveals children can only focus on learning when their basic needs are met. Many families in our region do not have adequate basic nutrition. Every day and for every child, we will provide daily balanced meals for breakfast and lunch that meet the USDA nutrition standards.

We are bound by the same NSLP/SBP regulations as traditional public and private schools. The school's leadership will enter into a contractual relationship with a food service management company to provide our meals.
